The students compare the lyrics to “Bring Him Home” from Les Miserable and Psalm 13. After they put their list together, I show them the classical form critical elements of lament. This leads us into a discussion about the role of lament in Israel’s worship life (and the lack of lament in our own). I believe in the future, I will exchange “Bring Him Home” for “It’s Not Easy Being Green.” That song has gotten better results for me in the past.
